Multi-component Technology
In a multi-component injection moulding process (or
2C-laminating injection moulding in the above mentioned example) several
melts are injected sequencially into a mould during one injection
process. The melts can either be injected onto one another or into one
another. The resulting layers can either be indissolubley joined or can
move against one another.
In a 2C-laminating injection moulding process two different melts are
injected onto one another. One material with different colourings can be
used or differing materials. This process is also known as 2-colour
injection-moulding (2C-IM=2F-SG) or 2-material-injection-moulding. The
basic process for both methods is identical. Essentially there are 5
different methods of injection moulding, whereby the relevant moulding
techniques can be divided into rotating and non-rotating moulding
systems.
