Cascade Technology
In cascade injection moulding several nozzles are
operated either behind or above one another. The mould is filled with
the plastic melt through several needle fine nozzles which are
positioned in a heated channel system. When, for example, three needle
nozzles are situated in the heated channel the middle nozzle is opened
first and the melt is injected into the cavity. As soon as the two outer
parts of the mould start to fill with melt the middle nozzle is shut and
the outer nozzles are opened. In this way joining seams can be placed in
a predetermined position or avoided completely. The process provides big
advantages as far as the flow distance is concerned, allowing for very
large pieces to be filled with very short flowing distances.
